COURT: Sentence deferred on signwriter for sporadic act of public indecency
A signwriter from Dundee has been told to behave himself after he was caught walking naked across the A90 dual carriageway.
Kieran Morrison, 20, of Balunie Drive, acted on impulse after a “therapeutic” late-night ride on his motorbike, according to his solicitor.
The 20- year- old appeared for sentencing at Forfar Sheriff Court yesterday following an earlier court appearance in connection with the bizarre incident, which happened on October 28 2017 on the Aberdeen to Dundee Road at Happas.
The charge from the earlier hearing was changed and yesterday he pleaded guilty to an act of public indecency by walking naked across the dual carriageway.
Defence solicitor Stuart Hamilton told the court it had been an act of “impulsive behaviour” by his client.
He said: “This is a completely different charge entirely to the one he previously pleaded guilty to.
“He is 20 years old, he lives with his parents and has no previous convictions, he is a genuine first offender.
“He had been driving his motorbike, which is somewhat therapeutic for him, it’s his hobby.
“He drove up to the Happas junction. This was impulsive behaviour.
“He is adamant he has never done anything like this before and has no intentions of doing anything like it again.”
Mr Hamilton said the court proceedings had come as “nothing short of a shock to the system” to Morrison.
“Given there is a lack of explanation it could just be that there is no explanation,” he added.
“It was not premeditated, it was a oneoff, impulsive act.
“It was clearly a sporadic act. He was not aiming to be seen by any member of the public. It was 11 pm and it was dark.”
Sheriff Jillian Martin-brown deferred sentence for a further six months for Morrison to be of good behaviour.
He is due back in court on September 5.
