- Jake keith

Police are searching for a man following a “serious” sexual assault at a flat in Stobswell.

A woman in her thirties was attacked at a property on Morgan Street in the early hours of Saturday with the force now hunting a man seen in the area at the time.

The victim has been left shaken by the attack, which occurred some time between 2am and 4am, but is otherwise uninjured.

Detective Inspector Ray Birnie, of Tayside Division’s CID, said the force was doing all it could to support the woman and appealed for information.

He said: “If anyone recalls hearing anything or seeing anything in the Morgan Street area, including any vehicles, between 2am and 4am on Saturday morning then I would ask them to contact us.

“The female victim was not physically injured, however she has obviously been left very upset and distressed by the incident.

“Specialist officers are currently providing support to her. There has been an ongoing police activity at the address and there will be additional high-visibility patrols in the area for the time being.

“I would like to thank the local community for their patience whilst we deal with this incident and again ask that if they have any information that could assist us to please come forward.”

According to police, a white man, aged between 30 and 40 and about 5ft 11in may be able to “assist” with inquiries.

He is described as having light brown hair, stubble, a Scottish accent and was wearing a dark blue jacket, dark hoodie and light-coloured jogging bottoms.

The man is also believed to have either driven or been dropped off nearby by a small, dark vehicle.

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 1427 of March 24, or to remain anonymous call the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The incident is the fourth sex attack in Dundee in the last four months.
