Bollan impressed by his battling Blue Brazil

-

Gary Bollan has praised Cowdenbeath’s spirit after they extended their unbeaten run to four games with a richly-deserved draw against Stirling Albion.

The biggest League Two crowd of the day, 748, turned up at Forthbank and the fans were not disappointed as both teams served up a four-goal cracker.

Cowdenbeath’s plight is there for everyone to see, nine points behind Berwick Rangers at the bottom of the table.

But Bollan believes his men are giving it their best shot as they get ready for another major test against Clyde at Central Park tomorrow night.

“Clyde are the form team, “said Bollan. “They are winning games and this has the makings of a good game.

“We are going to make sure no one is going to come to Central Park between now and the end of the season and enjoy their game.

“We will put them under pressure because we have got to win our games.

“We’ve had that spirit for weeks We’ve virtually got a new group and we are gelling.

“In normal circumstances coming to Stirling this would be a good point but our goalie never really had any good saves to make.

“I probably felt we did enough to go away with the three points. If there was any team in the second half creating chances it was us.

“We gave away, in my eyes, an unnecessary penalty and in the second half we put Stirling Albion under pressure for the majority of it.

“We scored two real good goals and with any luck might have had another one. But I’m satisfied really.”

On loan St Johnstone midfielder Danny Jardine fired third-placed Stirling into an interval lead before Robbie Buchanan’s strike after the break made it 1-1.

Neil Mclaughlin restored Stirling’s advantage from the penalty spot after substitute Scott Rumsby was ruled to have brought down Peter Macdonald.

Cowden ‘keeper David Mcgurn got a hand to the ball but couldn’t keep it out to the joy of the home supporters.

But Cowdenbeath’s determination shone through and their tenacity was rewarded when Blair Malcolm, on loan from Ross County, broke through before drilling into the corner.
