Clyde and Central Young Farmers’ cattle show and sale
Clyde and Central Young Farmers had forward 35 show cattle at their show and sale in conjunction with Caledonian Marts Ltd, Stirling.
A total of 19 heifers averaged 392ppkg or £1,790 per head, and 18 bullocks averaged 257ppkg or £1,230 per head.
Overall Champion – S Dick, Mains of Throsk, Throsk, for her 11-month-old Limousin X heifer which sold for £4,500 to Keith Commercials, Heads of Auchinderran, Keith.
Reserve – A&K Morton, Lochend, Denny, for a British Blue X heifer which sold for £2,000 to Blair Duffton, Loanhead of Kinnoir, Huntly. Class 1:

Bullock born 7/4/17 to 20/5/17 – A&K Morton, Lochend, 470kg, £1,650.

Heifer born 15/2/17 to 19/4/17 – S Dick, overall champion.
Heifer born 20/4/17 to 17/5/17 – F Mcnicol, Strathview, 390kg, £1,700.
Homebred heifer – A&K Morton, Lochend, 485kg.
Homebred bullock – S Dick, Mains of Throsk, 515kg, £1,220.
Best opposite sex to champion – S Dunn and C Jackson.
Limousin champion – S Dick. Reserve – S Dunn and C Jackson.
Charolais champion – R Kennedy. Reserve – D Wright.
British Blue champion – A&K Morton. Reserve – A&K Morton,
Clyde and Central Young Farmers also had forward 40 prime hoggets at their show and sale.
Prime hoggets averaged 247p per kg overall.
Overall champion pair came from C Arnott, weighing in at 46kg and selling to £138.
Reserve champion pair came from N Murray, weighing 52kg and selling to £128. Leading prices per kg: 271p C Findlay, Pirnhall.
270p A&K Morton, Lochend. Open spring show champion went to B Harper, Greenwells with a Limousin X heifer weighing 390kg selling to £2,600.
Reserve champion went to S Dick, Mains of Throsk, with a Limousin X heifer which weighed 520kg selling for £2,300 to A Macgregor, Parkdyke, Stirling. Class 12:
