Taste of Angus organisers raise a glass to another successful year

-

Taste of Angus Festival organisers have hailed the success of this year’s event and set out plans to build on it in the future.

A week of tastings, menus featuring locally sourced ingredients, foodie events and farm visits culminated in a finale pizza afternoon which drew more than 250 people to the Roastery in Arbroath on March 25.

Kathryn Baker of Arbroath’s Sacred Grounds Coffee Company said Angus had much to be proud of when it came to top quality food and drink.

“This event was an excellent opportunity to highlight the incredible produce available on our doorstep but it was also a perfect example of what can be achieved when artisan food and drink companies work together,” she added.

Participants and organisers now hope to maintain the momentum of the initiative, which included several successful drinks event, a ghost walk and children’s pie making masterclasses.

One of the objectives of the festival is to highlight the Taste of Angus Food Charter, which promotes the use of local food through cafes and restaurants, schools, public bodies, community groups, shops and by individuals.

It aims to support local food and drink businesses and farmers and create a healthier food culture in Angus, serving higher quality and tastier food for residents and visitors.

Anyone can sign up to the charter and pledge to make changes in the food they buy, sell, cook or eat by going to businessangus.com/taste
