Cases heard at sheriff court

-

An Arbroath man appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court and admitted assaulting his partner.

John Tosh, 56, of Noran Avenue, assaulted Barbara Downie on March 11 at his home address.

He admitted hitting her on the back of her hand with the back of his hand, causing her severe injury.

Noting the severity of the assault, Sheriff Jillian Martin brown deferred sentence until April 26 for a criminal justice and social work report.

Also appearing at Forfar was Jordan Hutton, 18, of Highland gate Hotel, Stirling.

He admitted assaulting a 16-year-old at the Rossie Secure Unit, Rossie School, Montrose, on March 12 2017.

Hutton repeatedly punched his victim on the head and body and repeatedly kicked him on the body. Sentence was deferred until April 26 pending a criminal justice and social work report.

A Brechin man is to stand trial after he pled not guilty to making threats of violence and playing loud music at his home in Guthrie Park. Mark Ewen, 44, denied behaving in a threatening or abusive manner on March 12 2018.

The charge states that he repeatedly shouted and swore, threatened violence and played music at an excessive level, contrary to the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010. An intermediate diet date was set for May 1 with the trial fixed for June 1.
