Awards to help with travel costs
Young people from Brechin and the surrounding area are being invited to apply for a travel award to help with the costs of an overseas project.
The scheme is run by the Dean of Guild and is open to any young person living or studying in Brechin, or who has connections to the town.
A spokesman for the Dean of Guild said: “Each year the Dean of Guild awards several hundred pounds to help young people from Brechin with the costs of overseas travel, which may be for work experience, educational purposes, conservation or other worthwhile projects, or simply for experience of different places and people.
“Last year, awards were made to two young athletes, one of whom travelled to Brisbane for a cricket academy, and the other was travelling throughout the UK and Ireland for competitions.
“In 2016, awards were made to three young people, one who travelled and worked in Nepal, and two who were teaching in Guyana and China.”
Applicants may be interviewed to discuss their plans, and recipients will be asked to report back to the Guildry during their trip to discuss their experience and submit a report on their activities when they get home.
The closing date for submissions is Friday May 4.
Applications should outline travel plans and contact details.
