Mccunnie confident Fed can turn tables

-

Broughty Athletic face a tough test against Linlithgow Rose at Whitton Park and Fed boss Jamie Mccunnie has unfinished business against the visitors.

A 4-1 defeat at Prestonfield was Mccunnie’s last game in charge as caretaker before Jim Finlayson took over. But things have changed now Mccunnie is back in charge and he believes his side are in with a shout.

He said: “I believe we can approach the game with confidence if the players hit the same standards they have been achieving recently.”

Ryan Blair misses the game for Broughty through suspension.

Carnoustie’s defeat by Newtongrange was bad enough but victories for Forfar West End and Kennoway brought the bottom two that bit closer and Gowfers boss Alan Mcskimming has demanded an instant improvement from his squad.

He said: “Last week wasn’t anywhere near good enough. We had far too many passengers and it showed.

“Nobody knows what is going to happen at the end of the season but we don’t want to risk anything and are looking to get ourselves out of trouble.”

The Gowfers are at full strength for the home game with Sauchie but changes are expected with John Roberts available before starting a suspension.

Jeanfield have been very much a Jekyll and Hyde side and manager Ross Gunnion could be forgiven for not knowing which one is going to turn up to take on Hill of Beath at Riverside.

Gunnion has the same squad available that were slightly unlucky to lose at Linlithgow last week. Hill of Beath are without the suspended Russell Grierson.

Due to drainage issues at Treaton Park, the game between Kennoway Star Hearts and Forfar West End is in extreme doubt but, should the game go ahead, Kennoway will be looking to build on last week’s win at Sauchie.

Hearts player manager Craig Johnstone is without Dylan Muir and Ross Mutch but otherwise has a full squad available.

West End will have the same squad that beat Bo’ness United last time out.
