Lack of options are unfair

-

Sir, – A recent announcement by Stagecoach that they plan to stop running express buses between Leven and Glasgow in May represents another disappointment for an area which already suffers poor connections.

We have come to rely on these.

I’ve been using this service every fortnight for years now to visit family outside Glasgow.

My nephew uses it to travel for work on occasional days every week.

Having to arrange extra bus journeys to connect to the Glasgow service in Glenrothes is just not convenient.

The changes will also inevitably result in the addition of a lot more time to an already long journey.

It is not as if we had any alternative such as the trains.

Here, too, we have to take one or two buses to connect to the nearest stations.

The result is basically a doubling of the amount of time spent travelling.

We are really disappointed in Stagecoach which appears to change bus services and routes with little consideration to local people.

Without access to alternative modes of transport it’s just not fair.

Despite the situation, I never hear our politicians speaking up for us when it comes to this basic requirement. Margaret Thomson. Den Walk, Methil.
