Gowfers and Swifts ready for cup clash

-

The identity of the two remaining semi-finalists in the GA Engineering Cup will become known tonight as the first round of spring midweek fixtures take place.

The Super League duo of Carnoustie Panmure and Jeanfield Swifts meet at Laing Park to decide who will host Stonehaven.

The other quarter-final fixture is a City of Discovery clash between two North League sides that are in rich veins of form.

Leaders North End are unbeaten in the league since mid-august while East Craigie have won their last six games. The winners are away to Hermes.

The other knockout fixture sees Lochore Welfare head to Prestonfield to meet Linlithgow Rose in the Fife and Lothians.

In the Super League, Broughty Athletic head to Forfar West End keen to make up for not taking what manager Jamie Mccunnie felt would have been a deserved point from Saturday’s home defeat to Linlithgow.

Left idle by the weather at the weekend, West End will be hoping they can build on their fine win over Bo’ness to climb off the foot of the table.

Glenrothes are currently in the drop zone and will be targeting a win over tonight’s visitors Downfield to ease their relegation worries.

In the other game in this division, Thornton Hibs are on a good run and can claim a top-half place if they can get the better of fifth-placed Tayport at Memorial Park.

There is just one fixture in the North League with Harp hosting Blairgowrie.
