The line-up for this year’s Glamis Prom has been announced and is sure to have ticket sales soaring ahead of the summer event, which takes place in August.

The Prom at Glamis Castle has become a highlight of the summer season for many music lovers who enjoy entertainment in regal surroundings.

The Scottish Pops Orchestra will be joined by big names including West End superstar Kerry Ellis, Tom Urie of BBC Proms in the Park and Saskia Eng who first found fame on The Voice.

The theme for this year’s Glamis Prom is The Great British Songbook and the medley of home-grown classics will include music from everyone from Elgar to Ed Sheeran, with a few surprises along the way.

Kerry Ellis, who is well known for her performances in Wicked, We Will Rock You, Oliver! and Les Miserables, is excited about the prospect of coming back to Scotland in August.

“I’m delighted to be joining the Glamis Prom this year, following my 20th anniversary tour.

“I’m honoured to be continually

supported by the amazing Scottish crowds, I’m so excited to be performing at this magical event and hope I see lots of you there.”

Kerry’s musical career has encompassed performances in Cats – she took over the role of Grizabella from Nicole Scherzinger in 2015 – and collaborations with artists such as Brian May. She toured with Brian across Italy and Eastern Europe before completing her 20th anniversary solo tour with a new band and new music from Brian.

Also performing at the Glamis Prom will be Tom Urie. Best known to some as Big Bob in BBC drama River City, Tom is also an accomplished musician, singer, writer and producer. He trained as a musician at Perth Rock College.

Having shed an incredible 19 stones in weight recently, Tom has been able to achieve new musical heights such as singing Nessun Dorma with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra at BBC Proms in the Park.

The youngest of the headline acts will be Saskia Eng, the Edinburgh singer who wowed judges on The Voice UK earlier this year. Saskia, who is just 16, is studying singing and piano at the City of Edinburgh Music School.

She has been performing since she started busking in the streets of Edinburgh aged just 10 and went on to win Edinburgh’s Got Talent as the youngest competitor when she was 12.

All eyes will be on the weather forecast in the days leading up to the Prom, but concert-goers will have the option of purchasing gazebo tickets if they want to be prepared for whatever the Scottish climate throws at us.
