Notable catches on the Tay

On the lower River Tay at Stanley, Steve Bloxham caught his first salmon, weighing 9lb, from the Horsey pool at the Pitlochrie beat.

Stobhall and Taymount produced seven between them, including a 17lb fish for Alistair Sheach on the Linn Pool.

Ballathie had a good day on Saturday with three fish landed on the lower beat.

Cargill only had one in the week but it was 16lb caught by Mike Brown.

The bigger water did not suit Islamouth but they still managed three fish, including one at 23lb.

Meikleour and Upper Islamouth had four, with Simon Littlejohn catching three of them.

Earlier in the week there was a notable 21lb fish for 93-yearold Tommy Saville, the largest he had caught in his career.

On the middle river Kercock Robert Mcfarlane took a 9lb fish on the fly.

Glendelvin­e had a couple, while Newtyle had three. Mark Currie landed his first fish from the Ferry Pool weighing 20lb.

Dunkeld House, Dalmarnock and Dalguise had a single fish for the week. The Kinnaird beats had three fish.

The Tummel was also seeing sport, with six reported last week form the Pitlochry Angling Club stretch at Portnacrai­g up to an impressive 18lb, and odd fish are starting to ascend the ladder with temperatur­es rising.

Dave Stewart, Neill Sproull, George Renwick, Ally Gowans, David Andrew and Munro Reid all enjoyed success.
