Penalty drama as Kirrie shock Gowfers in East of Scotland

Premier League bottom side Kirrie Thistle shocked Super League outfit Carnoustie Panmure last night by knocking them out of the East of Scotland Cup.

The sides shared six goals in the regulation 90 minutes of their second round clash but Thistle prevailed 5-4 in the penalty shoot-out.

In the Fife and Lothians Cup, Thornton Hibs went through to the next round after winning a penalty shoot-out 5-3 against Edinburgh United.

It finished 2-2 with Adam Drummond and Raymond Crichton the Fifers scorers.

A Tony Holt goal 20 minutes from time gave Jeanfield Swifts victory over Lochee United at Thomson Park and lifted the Perth side out of the drop zone.

A Lewis Elder double earned Hill of Beath a point away to Bo’ness United.

Matthew Gay scored the only goal of the game as Kennoway Star Hearts beat Forfar West End 1-0 in a Super League basement battle at Treatton Park.

In the Premier League, second half goals from substitute Alan Tulleth and Dale Reid earned Tayport victory over Downfield at the Canniepair­t.

Goals from Ryan Hunter and Ryan Smith earned North End the first of the two victories the Dokens require to be North League champions with three games left.

Luncarty cruised to a 5-0 win at home to Newburgh to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Kieran Donald, Dale Smart, Richard Doig, Jake Dalowaski and Jon Kelly were on target for the Bleachers.

In a hastily arranged fixture, East Craigie chalked up a ninth straight victory with a 5-2 home win over Forfar Albion.

Nik Mann notched a hat-trick – including two penalties, with Aiden Benzie and James Malone also on target for the Shipbuilde­rs.

Rosyth returned with a point from Harthiil thanks to a late equaliser from Scott Gilfillan.

In the other South League fixture, Lochgelly Albert won 2-0 at Kirkcaldy YM. Joe Kirby and Calum Geddes were the Berts scorers.
