ICT legend aims to slam play-off door

-

James Vincent’s legendary status in Inverness is not under any threat.

However, the Dunfermline loan star is determined to break Highland hearts this weekend as the fight for the Championship’s last play-off place goes to the final day.

The Pars lead in-form Caley by two points, with Dumbarton visiting East End Park.

Allan Johnston’s men are in the box seat, safe in the knowledge that even a draw will secure fourth-place due to their superior goal difference. Inverness, meanwhile, travel to Morton praying for what boss John Robertson described as a ‘football miracle’.

Vincent is assured his place in Caley Jags folklore after scoring the winning goal in the 2015 Scottish Cup final against Falkirk as they claimed the trophy for the first time, However, there will be no room for sentiment this weekend.

“Our mentality and approach has been to take things game by game, not get too far ahead of ourselves, but it is in sight now,” said Vincent.

“We have almost come in under the radar and the run we’ve been on has been good enough to put us in this position.

“I think we have been fantastic. We are right up there among the best in the league in terms of out recent results. To be fair, Inverness are probably up there as well.

“We’ve got real confidence throughout the team and we just need to keep that momentum going into the weekend.

“We know a professional performance is required this weekend and hopefully we can get the job done.”
