The Courier & Advertiser (Angus and Dundee)

A friend indeed

-

In 2019, The People’s Friend will celebrate its 150th birthday and the staff want to hear from you!

The first issue was published on January 13 1869 and it’s been in continuous publication ever since, making it the longest-running women’s weekly magazine in the world.

The secret of its success is due, in no small part, to its connection with its readers. Staff hope to celebrate that bond by doing what the magazine is famous for – sharing stories. Specifically, your stories!

They want to hear about what the ‘Friend’ means to you. Maybe you’ve been a reader for years and first picked up the magazine as a young woman? Perhaps you’ve started buying it recently in memory of a much-missed mum or grandma? Does it bring back memories of home, or has it helped you through difficult times in life?

Or perhaps you used to work on the magazine or another of DC Thomson Media’s titles and picked up your first copy during your time there?

However you came to find The People’s Friend and whatever part it’s played in your life, staff would love to hear about it. Your letters and pictures will be showcased throughout the year – in the magazine, on the website and in the weekly newsletter.

You can send your stories and pictures by writing to The People’s Friend 150th reader stories, DC Thomson, 2 Albert Square, Dundee DD1 1DD
