Developers include ‘Rosie Road’ in housing plans
A popular walking route has been included in plans lodged with Angus Council for a 106-house development at the east end of Forfar.
Ogilvie Homes Ltd of Stirling has officially lodged its plans for a 5.9-hectare site bounded to the north by the Montrose Road and by Arbroath Road to the south.
The site is allocated for residential development in the local development plan.
A public path, known locally as the ‘Rosie Road’, slices through the site and provides pedestrian access from Arbroath Road to Montrose Road.
The developers said they have approached both portions effectively as two individual sites with a road crossing point at Rosie Road connecting the two areas.
In January, members of Angus Council’s development standards committee considered a report for 60 houses on the site.
At that time councillor
Bill Duff told the meeting he hoped the popularity and history of the path would be maintained.
There would be 38 houses on the south site and 68 to the north.
The site entrance is proposed to be taken off Arbroath Road, with the demolition of a cottage named Rosewood and the formation of a new access road.
Although no vehicular access is proposed from Montrose Road, emergency access could be gained via an interconnecting path from the Rosie Road into the northern portion of the proposed development.
There would be 10 house types in the development, and 17 affordable homes are included.
