Wild West is moseying into town to help raise cash to beat cancer

-

The Wild West will be moseying down to Angus in September – but all in a good cause.

Cancer Research UK Relay for Life Arbroath is encouraging friends, family and work colleagues to get together and enter this year’s event over the weekend of September 15-16.

The Wild West will be the theme of this year’s event at Arbroath cricket ground.

Chairman Ian Angus said: “Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer and the relay is a great way of fighting back by raising money for research while spending quality time with friends, family and colleagues.

“Anyone who has been to the relay will know it is a fun-filled weekend and the committee is already hard at work to ensure that this year’s event will be just as entertaining as ever,” he added.

Law firm Thorntons is again sponsoring the event and Mr Angus said participants would be encouraged to dress up, have a banner and decorate their campsite in the spirit of the Wild West theme,

He continued: “More than one in three people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some stage in their lives.

“Taking part in Relay for Life is about being part of a global community united in the belief that it can make a difference and help beat cancer.”

Last year’s relay total broke the £70,000 mark.

Participants enjoyed an ’80s theme, with organisers saying they had been “blown away” by the response, which included team members arriving from as far afield as Cornwall.
