Man, 21, charged with murder after body found in Dundee flat
Investigation: Appeal for information after discovery in Brown Constable Street
A 21-year-old man has been charged with murder after a body was discovered in a property in Dundee on Friday.
The body of a man was found in Brown Constable Street but no further details as to his identity have been released.
Residents said they had been left shocked by developments.
Neighbour Stan Catalin, 28, said he had learned about it after returning home from holiday at the weekend.
He added: “It’s really scary... the police have been here all weekend.
“It is frightening to think someone has died in suspicious circumstances in the building you live in.
“I really hope police get to the bottom of what has happened.
“I spoke to the man a couple of times when I met him in the lobby but I never really had much to do with him.”
Sallam Miraha and Aysyh Sultana live next door. Sallam said: “He never really spoke to us but we used to see a lot of people coming and going from his flat.
“I don’t think he had lived here for very long and we only saw him occasionally.
“It’s shocking to hear that he has died.”
Police said they were summoned to the flat at 9.35am “following a call from a member of the public regarding the welfare of a man”.
His body was found inside. Detective Chief Inspector David Pinkney of the major investigation team said: “Our investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the man is continuing and there has been police activity in the area for some time.
“I would like to thank the local community for their understanding while we carry out our investigations.
“We believe this has been a contained incident with no wider threat to the local community.
“Additional patrols will be carried out in the area by community officers to provide reassurance and assistance to local residents.
“Should anyone have any information I would ask that they call Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 959 of May 25.
“Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
