Sculpture entries now closed

-

The Friends of William Lamb have announced that entries are closed for its annual William Lamb Children’s Sculpture competition.

It looks like it will be the largest entry group ever.

On Saturday children from the six Montrose primary schools and Montrose Academy will gather to see who can produce the most interesting clay sculpture on the day.

They will be given clay and an hour to create their entry. Many will be modelling in clay for the first time.

Prizes will be offered to the top three entries in all three age groups, and the overall winner will also be awarded the special Lamb Medal, provided by Egerton’s jewellers.

A spokesperson for the Friends said: “We have been holding the Lamb Children’s Sculpture competition for 37 years now.

“The standard of last year’s entries was exceptionally high, but we are expecting this to be another inspirational and fun day for both the children and Friends.

“Of course we cannot guarantee a royal visitor to come and view the exhibition of photos from this year’s competition, but nonetheless we are going ahead with a public display which will be advertised when arranged”.

The Friends of the William Lamb Studio was established 41 years ago to support the council in the management and promotion of the Lamb Studio.
