Carnoustie produced one of their performances of the season to beat Bo’ness United 2-1 at Laing Park.

The Gowfers were missing several key players and had to field a makeshift back four but they dominated the visitors for large periods.

Sam Simpson put Carnoustie in front on 12 minutes from the penalty spot after Pat Martin had been bundled to the ground by Will Snowdon and the Gowfers led until the 75th minute.

Nick Prentice was fed by Snowdon but his shot was initially well saved by Jamie Robbie.

However, the Bo’ness man acted quickest and slotted home the rebound.

Carnoustie came back well and created wave after wave of attacks as they looked for a winner, which came in stoppage time.

Sam Simpson marauded down the left before crossing for Darren Cooper.

The young striker turned sharply and took both central defenders out of the game before firing the ball in to the top corner for a deserved winner.

Forfar West End completed a disappointing first season in the Super league with a 4-0 defeat to Linlithgow Rose at Strathmore Park.

Blair Batchelor gave the visitors an early lead after just four minutes before Gary Thom scored a brilliant second with an effort from inside his own half.

Tommy Coyne scored the third after 83 minutes and Alan Urquhart hit the fourth two minutes later.

Jeanfield Swifts led 3-1 at half time at Newtongrange Star but a second half hat-trick from substitute Ryan Porteous saw the home side turn the game round to win 4-3 in stoppage time.

Sean Melvin had given Star the lead after just 74 seconds but Swifts came flying back and to lead 3-1 at the break through Rhys Davies, Player Manager Ross Gunnion and James Yates.

However, Porteous made it 3-2 on 63 minutes, equalised on 73 minutes with a wonder strike before scoring the winner in the second minute of added time.
