Sentence deferred on woman who butted neighbour in street

-

A Forfar woman who headbutted her neighbour in the street has been released on a good behaviour order until December.

Kym Alexander launched the mid-afternoon attack on her victim after being accused of being a noisy neighbour in a long-running row between the pair.

Forfar Sheriff Court was told the incident happened around 3.15pm on October 17 last year when the complainer saw Alexander in the street.

Depute fiscal Stewart Duncan said: “She went out to speak to her about noise complaints, asking if she had been responsible for the noise coming from the property. The accused didn’t reply and the question was repeated, to which the accused replied: ‘What the **** are you talking about’, before headbutting her to the face and nose.”

The victim did not require hospital treatment as a result, but as Alexander was leaving she said: “I’ll ******* do it again.”

Defence solicitor Nick Markowski said his 37-year-old client had managed to stay out of trouble for some time.

He said Alexander had a history of drug addiction and is currently on a methadone prescription and other medication, adding: “She is advised to avoid alcohol and was slightly under the influence when the complainer remonstrated with her. Fortunately there was no injury and there have been no further difficulties – they are still neighbours. She was last in court in 2014.”

Sheriff Jillian Martin-brown said: “Given that you have been out of offending for a number of years and there are no other matters outstanding I am prepared to defer sentence.”
