Farmington keep up pressure with victory
SWPL: Second half goals see Forfar side close in on third place
Forfar Farmington made it five wins out of six and moved within two points of third place in the SWPL Premier league with a 2-1 weekend win over Hamilton Academical.
All three goals came in the second half.
Robyn Smith fired Farmington ahead before Katie Rice levelled for Accies. The winner came from a Megan Mccarthy header.
A league below, it was also a good day for St Johnstone.
Their 3-0 victory away at Glasgow Girls took them above their opponents into third.
It was their biggest away win of the season and manager Jason Mccrindle said: “The performance from every player was outstanding.
“It was a complete team effort and our best performance of the season.”
The goals were scored by Elliemay Cowie, Hannah Clark and Rachel Todd.
Meanwhile, off the pitch, Saints have announced Aberdein Considine as their new shorts sponsors.
Aberdein Considine partner Charlie Fraser, who is also a director with St Johnstone FC said: ”We’re delighted to be supporting St Johnstone WFC and it’s great to know we’re playing a part in helping a local club which is an important part of the local community.”
It was a case of as you were at the top of Division One North.
East Fife stayed top with a 5-3 win at Aberdeen Ladies U-23s, while Dundee United kept the pressure on them by hammering Buchan 10-0.
Raith Rovers and Dunfermline both lost home games, however.
In Division Two North, Montrose lost the top-of-the-table clash with Stonehaven 2-1.
Forfar Farmington development also lost, by 7-5, to Ross County.
