Forfarshire wicketkeeper earns recall for Pakistan T20 games –

-

Forfarshire wicketkeeper Craig Wallace and bowler Hamza Tahir have been called in to the Scotland squad to face Pakistan next week.

The duo missed out on selection for the side that will face England in ODI action on Sunday.

However, with Durham batsman Michael Jones and former skipper Preston Mommsen spared duty following this weekend’s clash, Wallace has been given a reprieve following an admittedly poor run of performances during the Saltires’ recent tour of Zimbabwe.

Left-arm spinner Tahir has also been included in the squad to face Pakistan in T20 showdowns on June 12 and 13, as well as the Netherlands Tri-series which begins against Ireland on June 16.

Captain Kyle Coetzer said: “This will be a huge occasion, not only for the playing squad but for the Cricket Scotland organisation as a whole.

“To be hosting the two No 1 teams in 50-over and 20-over formats in a few days is not something that comes around every day.

“We need to make sure we are willing to soak up the special day and not be afraid to grab the game with our exciting, expressive style.”

Scotland squad for Pakistan and Tri-series: Kyle Coetzer (captain), Richie Berrington (vice-captain), Dylan Budge, Matthew Cross, Alasdair Evans, Craig Wallace, Michael Leask, Calum Macleod, Hamza Tahir, George Munsey, Safyaan Sharif, Chris Sole, Mark Watt, Brad Wheal, Stuart Whittingham.

England, meanwhile, have called up Jake Ball as cover for injured seamer Chris Woakes in their squad to face Australia this month.

Woakes joined Ben Stokes on the injury sidelines after suffering a thigh strain in England’s win over Pakistan in the second Test.

Both will be unavailable for this weekend’s one-off one-day international against Scotland and, according to an England and Wales Cricket Board statement, the “first part” of the five-match series against Australia.
