Angels targets quick hat-trick

TIPS: Easterby’s filly drawing attention from handicapper with impressive wins

- The Ferret

ANGELS can bring up a hat-trick in the British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies’ Handicap at Carlisle.

This Dark Angel filly has won two of her three starts, scoring at Ripon and Pontefract last month, impressing with the manner of her victory on both occasions.

The handicapper has certainly noticed Angels’ ability and an opening mark of 85 is probably higher than Tim Easterby would have liked, but certainly appears workable.

The record suggests ALSVINDER does not win on turf but so well is he handicapped on grass compared to his all-weather mark that it must come right at some point and the Thursby Handicap also at Carlisle is the latest chance.

KADIZ is fancied to break his duck in the Thorley Taverns Novice Stakes at Brighton.

The Richard Hughes-trained filly made a decent impression when beaten just half a length on her debut at Newmarket in April, but was disappointing after that on markedly different ground at Salisbury.

She returned on a quicker surface at Windsor last month and was much more like it.

Sent off at 11-2, the Lope De Vega filly was niggled along from halfway, but stuck at it well, albeit finding winner Come On Leicester four and half lengths too good.

It should be pointed out, however, that her conqueror looks a Royal Ascot type, so the likelihood is there was no disgrace in that.
