Shiel called up in place of injured Ali Price

-

Edinburgh’s Charlie Shiel has been called up to the Scotland squad as an injury replacement for Ali Price.

The 20-year-old scrum-half, son of former Scotland international Graham Shiel, has played at under-16, under-18 and under-20 level for his country.

Glasgow Warriors’ Price picked up a groin injury in the opening match of the summer tour, a 48-10 win over Canada in Edmonton.

Following further assessments in Houston, Texas – where Scotland play their next fixture against the United States this weekend – Price was ruled out of the rest of the tour.

Shiel, who signed a two-year professional contract with Edinburgh in March, is due to arrive in Houston.

Scotland will complete the summer Test campaign against Argentina in Resistencia on Saturday June 23.
