Fun day at Black Abbott to raise funds for Pandi’s Legacy

-

Local businesswoman Emma Learmonth is asking people to come together this Saturday to support a family fun day in Montrose.

The event is being held to raise funds for Pandi’s Legacy.

Pandi’s Legacy is a charity that provides young children in small, rural areas of Gambia the opportunity to go to school every day.

The funds raised on the family fun day will go towards the refurbishment and extension of a nursery and primary school in Faji Kunta.

Emma said: “Given the nature of the charity we wanted to do something child friendly so we are starting with a family fun day where there will be a 5K run/walk.

“We have already confirmed that a large number of kids from the local schools will be taking part.

“We also have an inflatable obstacle course, bouncy castle and kids sumo suits as well as lots of other games, such as tug-o-war, taking place throughout the day.

“There will be a wide variety of stalls from arts and crafts, face painting and glitter tattoos as well as teddy and chocolate tombolas.”

In addition to coordinating the day’s events, Emma will be taking part in a sponsored head shave alongside three other women and four men who will endure a leg waxing.

“For such a good cause, shaving my head seemed like the least that I could do,” she said.

The event – at the Black Abbott in Montrose at 1pm – is being held to raise well needed funds to repair the roof of the nursery school in Faji Kunta before the rainy season.
