KIRRIEMUIR DEATH:
Steven Donaldson’s death – two men and a woman to appear on Monday
Two men and a woman due in court.
Three people charged in connection with the murder of Arboath man Steven Donaldson will appear in court on Monday.
The oil worker was found dead in the car park of a Tayside beauty spot.
A woman aged 19 and two men aged 23 have been charged over the death of the 27-year-old, whose body was discovered around 5am on Thursday June 7 in the car park of Kinnordy Nature Reserve near Kirriemuir.
A major investigation into his death continues, and police encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
The no-fly zone over the Loch of Kinnordy has been rescinded.
A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed road closures on numerous roads were still in place but they would reopen as quickly as the investigation allowed.
He confirmed that the police guards at two properties in Kirriemuir would also be stood down as soon as possible.
The three are due to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court on Monday.
Mr Donaldson was an offshore worker who previously ran a property business.
Senior investigating officer Detective Superintendent James Smith, of Police Scotland’s major investigation team, said: “I would again like to thank all those who have provided information and assistance in connection with this inquiry so far. Our investigation is still ongoing and I would encourage anyone with information they think could assist us to please contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you would prefer to remain anonymous.”
On Thursday a gathering of friends and well-wishers took place in Mr Donaldson’s memory.
At the weekend his friend Martin Johnstone, 48, said: “We didn’t hear the body was him until police announced it on Friday. All his friends are in deep shock,” he added.
“He worked offshore all over the world and had only just returned from a two-week stint.”
Faisal Naseem, 30, added: “Steven was someone who was always on the go and never hung about the house.”
