-

An Angus woman has pled guilty to assaulting two police officers at her home.

Nardos Arbreha, 42, of Springfield Terrace, Arbroath, appeared before Sheriff Gregor Murray at Forfar Sheriff Court.

She was charged with behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and making phone calls to Police Scotland threatening to commit suicide and to kill her partner.

She was also charged with assaulting two police constables by repeatedly kicking them on their bodies.

Solicitor Billy Rennie told the court his client had pled guilty when her case first called.

She had no previous convictions and had taken up employment as a seasonal worker with a fresh food company in Arbroath.

Sentence was deferred until September 5 with the sheriff warning Arbreha she was facing serious charges.

A Dundee man has been ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work.

Norman Simpson, 34, of South Road, pled guilty at an earlier appearance to conducting himself in a disorderly manner on July 1 2016 at Victoria Park, Arbroath.

He admitted telling two members of the public to telephone Police Scotland, stating he had seen someone jump off the cliffs.

He named the person as Norman Simpson.

The charge stated he walked away from the scene in full knowledge the information he provided would cause a major investigation and a search was carried out by the police, coastguard and lifeboat crews.

Simpson was found guilty at an earlier court appearance on May 9.

Meanwhile, sentence was deferred on an Arbroath man who admitted breaking into a house in Helen Street, Arbroath, and stealing a Playstation 4 on February 1.

Alan Brand, 27, of Sidney Street, will be sentenced on July 19 after Sheriff Murray called for the production of a criminal justice and social work report and results of an MRI scan which Brand is due to have within the next two weeks.

This will determine if he is fit to carry out unpaid work.
