Scholarship win has Fife bottle shop worker Anna in high spirits

-

A staff member at Fife’s famous Luvian’s Bottleshop has been awarded the annual Ian Murray Scholarship by distiller William Grant & Sons UK.

Anna Rogan’s win will see her embark on a bespoke programme of activity which will include enhanced training, a presentational skills course and the chance to make an educational distillery visit.

The scholarship is awarded annually and was set up in honour of Ian Murray, a former prestige retail manager with Grant’s who passed away in 2013 after a short illness.

The scholarship is designed to offer young people between 18 and 30 who work in an offtrade spirits retail environment the chance to increase their knowledge of the trade – particularly malt whisky – and offer them opportunities to further their career development.

The scholarship winner is chosen by Mr Murray’s former colleagues along with members of the Grant family.

“I am proud to be awarded this scholarship and excited about the opportunities it brings to enhance my skills and further share my passion with our customers every day,” Ms Rogan said.

“Ian’s approach to whisky – smart, funny and approachable – is exactly what I try to emulate in my work, whether I’m introducing a complete novice or discussing the latest musthave release with a connoisseur.”
