Residents being urged to turn out and shape Timmergreens’ future
Residents and tenants of Timmergreens in Arbroath have been urged to help shape the future of their neighbourhood.
Plans are moving ahead for an ambitious multi-million-pound housing regeneration in the area with a public consultation event being held at Arbroath United Cricket Club on Thursday July 5 from 3-6pm.
Angus Council housing spokesman Craig Fotheringham said he wants the community to turn out in force.
“They can help to shape and influence the regeneration of their neighbourhood,” he said.
“The project moves ahead, but residents and tenants can have their input into what their future homes and environment look like and how it can best work for them.”
The aim is to provide 125 modern, energy-efficient homes to the area.
Residents are being invited to help shape the masterplan and also to give their views on the proposals through formal consultation.
Early talks, based on draft plans, identified overwhelming community support for large-scale regeneration.
The project, which will involve the demolition of 140 flats, was approved by Angus Council’s communities committee in August 2017.
The overall goal is to provide more modern properties, thus improving the environment and people’s quality of life.
New homes will be built on Emislaw Drive, Spitalfield Place, Newton Avenue and Muirton Road.
The Timmergreens area was identified for regeneration due to its higher-than-average numbers of low-demand properties.
It anticipated that work will begin on site next year.
