Village’s community hub on target to open later this year

-

Friockheim community hub, known as Friockhub, is on target to open later this year, chairman Douglas Pond has revealed.

Located at the former Eastgate Primary School, Friockhub community garden will provide an outdoor area where the community can work together and take part in a range of healthy activities.

The garden will provide raised beds for growing vegetables, fruit, herbs, flowers and will be fully accessible.

There are further proposals to install a greenhouse and shed to store tools and equipment.

Seating will be provided to allow residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy the space.

The project has been shortlisted for the Tesco Bags of Help scheme which provides grants of up to £4,000 to community projects.

Mr Pond said: “Friockhub, a registered Scottish Charity, is on target to open in the autumn offering a variety of facilities and services and space to socialise for Friockheim and the wider Angus community.

“Our aim is to improve the wellbeing of the local community across all age groups through working together outdoors and providing produce to improve health at no cost.

“We hope Tesco customers choose to support the Hub and thank those who do.”

Voting is open in all Tesco stores in July and August.

Customers will cast their vote using a token given at the check-out each time they shop.

Tesco’s Bags of Help project has already delivered more than £52 million to more than 16,000 projects up and down the UK, and customers get the chance to vote for three groups every time they shop, with votes collected every other month.
