Haslam in command as Fife circuit hosts championships

-

Knockhill Racing Circuit in Fife hosts round five of the British Superbike Championship and British Sidecar Championship this weekend.

Leon Haslam is currently leading the Superbikes with 165 points – 64 clear of Bradley Ray – thanks to his five-on-the-bounce winning spree, including the doubles at Oulton Park and Snetterton.

Haslam shows no signs of letting go of his lead and has just completed initial testing at Knockhill where he managed to beat the current lap record at the 1.3-mile circuit, which was set by Shane Byrne in 2015.

Meanwhile Luke Mossey is hoping to come back fighting fit after coming off his Kawasaki during race one at Snetterton in June.

Mossey was left disappointed with the end result as he had set the fastest lap during the official test at the Snetterton circuit.

The Royston rider encountered a brake problem which forced him to jump off the bike, resulting in him injuring his ribs and having to rest ahead of Knockhill.

He said: “I had a really good test at Knockhill.

“I’m not going to lie – my ribs were still giving me a lot of jip so I could only do short runs.

“I think I was doing five laps at a time, coming in and having a rest and then going back out.

“We’ve got a good bike set up ready for Knockhill this weekend and I’m looking forward to it.”
