Campbell vows to ring the changes

- NEIL ROBERTSON

Arbroath boss Dick Campbell will shuffle his pack for tonight’s Irn-bru Cup tie against Elgin City at Borough Briggs.

The Red Lichties are currently top of League 1 with two wins out of two.

However, the Gayfield gaffer is keen to give players who have not had much game time a chance to start in the cup game and possibly play their way into contention for Saturday’s big league match at Dumbarton.

Campbell said: “I will be making seven or eight changes for the Elgin match.

“It is an opportunity for the lads who have not been getting a lot of game time.

“So I have already named my team and the likes of Kane Hester, Ryan Mccord, Omar Kader, Finn Graham, Danny Denholm and Darren Hill will start although Ricky Little is suspended.

“Regardless of the changes, it will still be a strong team up in Elgin.

“It is a chance for them to play their way into my thoughts for Saturday’s match at Dumbarton.”

Meanwhile, Montrose travel north to face Cove Rangers at the Balmoral Stadium.

Gable Endies boss Stewart Petrie is also likely to give fringe men game time in the tie although he will be fully aware that John Sheran’s Highland League outfit will be a tough proposition.

Cove have dangerous players throughout their team including free-scoring former Aberdeen front man Mitch Megginson as well as highly-rated midfielder Blair Yule who left Arbroath this summer to rejoin his old team.
