R&A AUTUMN MEETING

-

Wind was the feature yesterday as the second round of the Queen Victoria Jubilee Vase got under way. Past Captain Sandy Dawson (Royal Sydney) was in action, taking on fellow Australian Bill Richardson (Royal Melbourne).

Sandy’s 2018 Jubilee Vase campaign will continue today after winning this match 3 and 2. Defending champion, Canadian Peter Johnson, is also through to Round 3, having put South African expat Henry Pearce to the sword 8 and 7.

Yesterday also saw the start of the Royal Calcutta Millennium Plate (RCMP) competition at Kingsbarns Golf Links (even more exposed to the strong winds than the Old Course), for those beaten in Round 1 of the Jubilee Vase, or Round 2 if originally in receipt of a bye into that round. Sixteen Round 1 Plate matches were due to be played yesterday, and the round will be completed this morning with a further 17 matches due to be played later.
