Fantastic fishing on offer at Frandy Fishery waters

With the weather cooling down the fish are starting to chase and take well at FRANDY FISHERY.

Fishing from the bank Jake Spiers (Bridge of Earn) 15, Scott Campbell (Perth) 18, Hamish Higgins (Perth) had 2 for 4lbs 4oz and released 11 and Peter Mcniven (Auchterard­er) kept 2 fish for 5lbs. Derek Fowler from Dunipace caught and released 18, Robert Peden (Kelty) 2 for 5lbs and released 4.

The boat anglers also did well with Sam Mcfarlane and Alastair Murphy from Rowbank keeping 10 fish for 20lbs, Jim Watson and Dave Gonsales (Auchtermuc­hty) had 8 for 17lbs, Bill Thomson (Auchterard­er) and Jim, Scott and Jamie Harkins (Perth) had 4 for 7lbs, George Keith and Tom Landsdon (Dunfermlin­e) took five fish weighing 10lbs.

On the angling club front Auchenhowi­e AC had eight for 16lbs 8oz, Faarmers and Associates kept 37 fish for 78lbs. ORCHILL TROUT FISHERY

is fishing well again on all tactics. Brian Oxley from Dunfermlin­e had 3 fish for 11lbs 8oz on a Black Zonker, John Score (Alloa) 3 fish weighing 9lbs 8oz on a Black Fritz, Jim Carrick (Cumbernaul­d) 4 fish for 12lbs on an Ace of Spades, Sandy Donald (Dunblane) 3 fish for 9lbs on a Yellow Dancer and David Birkmyre (Crieff) used a Bibio and a Grouse and Claret to bag 2 fish for 5lbs. Bob Noble from Crieff caught 2 fish for 6lbs 4oz on a Claret Hopper. LEDCRIEFF TROUT FISHERY. With a massive stocking going in last week, sport has been fast and furious. Denny Nugent fishing over two days with 22 fish including two over 10lb, Gordon Paterson returned nine fish on Saturday, Angus Mackenzie and Dave Peterson from Tillicoult­ry landed 17 up to 5lb, Colin and Lee Shepherd landed over 25, Dave Muir had 8

for 23lb and Neil Glen and nineyear-old Jude Curby landed 14 all around 4lbs (all expertly landed by four-year-old Lexy Glen). NEWTON FARM FISHERY.

A week full of big fish at Newton, reports John Callison, with 17 fish over 8lb and 9 double figure fish as well! Top rod was Stephen Tattersal landing 27 mostly on dries. Dougie Smith had 19 on diawl bachs and regular Jack Ford and his mate had 30 between them keeping 6 for 20lbs.

MONIKIE. The past week at Monikie some good catches are being taken although the “wind” has been an issue!

On the Island Pond there were 35 boats (68 rods) keeping 101 fish for 194lbs 3ozs and returning 6 but there was only 1 boat out on the North with 2 fish for 4lbs. Notable returns include P Kilminster and M Tidcombe on Island Pond keeping 5 fish for 9lbs 12ozs and I Soutar and L Irving on Island Pond with 6 fish for 12lbs 8ozs. Clubs out include Perth C. S. Club with 5 boats (10 rods) keeping 12 fish for 27lbs 13ozs, Aberdour A/C with 6 boats (12 rods) keeping 20 fish for 37lbs 6ozs, Perth RASC A/C with 3 boats (9 rods) keeping 9 fish for 16lbs 3ozs and Dundee West Angling Club with five boats (10 rods) keeping 20 fish for 32lbs 15ozs. LAKE OF MENTEITH. The Lake is fishing really well. The 2018 National Ladies Champion is Jean Ferguson. The finale at the weekend saw Jean catch six fish to win the Bunty Webster National Championsh­ip Trophy. Best newcomer was Anne Macinnes. The Combined champion was Jane Wright.
