Cash boost for Pamis training

-

Charity Pamis has received a share of £650,000 earmarked for projects helping people with long-term conditions in Scotland.

Pamis received £29,260 from the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland Self-management fund, administered on behalf of the Scottish Government.

The charity was one of 26 Scottish projects which took a share of the money.

The cash boost will allow Pamis to offer families caring for someone with profound and multiple learning difficulties the chance to attend a two-day training course.

These will be hosted through NHS Tayside, as well as other health boards across Scotland.

Jenny Miller, Pamis CEO, said: “We are thrilled this project, instigated nineyears ago by a family carer who recognised that her son would have lived a longer and healthier life had she known about effective postural care, is being developed nationally.

“There has been progress over the last few years in joining up families with health care practitioners to raise awareness and train both family and paid carers and this funding will greatly support the progress of this work.”

Plans and proposals for a Pamis toilet area at the Lochside country park in Forfar are “ongoing”.

In 2015, changing places provision was put in place at Arbroath harbour visitor centre following a local campaign.
