Plea to teen who went missing 20 years ago

-

The family of a Glenrothes teenager who went missing two decades ago have made a heartrending appeal for his return on the 20th anniversary of his disappearance.

Kenneth Jones was 18 when he was last seen at home. The date was November 3 1998.

His mother Mary Ann Jones urged him, through the charity Missing People, to at last make contact.

She said: “I am missing you very much and thinking about you every day.

“I wish you would come home but if you don’t want to contact me, please get in touch with the Missing People charity to let me know you’re OK and please look after yourself.”

Kenneth’s aunt, May Dodds, recalled his laughter and their chats and told him she missed him more every day.

In a message sending her love to Kenneth, she said: “I have looked for you all over Britain.

“My one wish for you is that you are happy with a family of your own.

“If you want to get in touch please call the Missing People helpline.”

Missing People publicity co-ordinator Ian Roullier encouraged Kenneth to call or text the charity on 116 000.

He said calls are free, confidential and cannot be traced and that the charity just wants to offer its support to him.

He said: “The helpline is here to support people who are missing or thinking of going missing and their loved ones who are left behind.”

Anyone who may have seen Kenneth was also asked to get in touch or call the police on 101.

Kenneth was carrying a small rucksack when he was last seen.

He was described as 6ft 2in and had short, dark brown hair.
