Pamis crowns dancing queen
Disability groups across Tayside took part in a dancing competition, hosted by local charity Promoting A More Inclusive Society (Pamis).
The charity, through funding from Better Breaks, organised dance workshops for people with profound and multiple learning difficulties. The workshops began in October, leading up to the competition last Friday.
Pamis also worked with another local charity, Confidance for Life, to put on the classes.
In front of a judging panel, comprising of members of Confidance for Life and Pamis, the groups and individuals performed to music they chose themselves.
Debbie Kiloh, from the Lilybank Resource Centre in Forfar, took home the Glitter Ball trophy.
Alexander Hoskins, Pamis family support and development officer, said: “Pamis is all about inclusion, and this event brings everybody together, no matter how complex their need or whatever their disability.
“It brings them together so that everybody has the same opportunities to have fun which is really important. It was great to see so many happy smiling faces.”
Colleen Lumsden, Lilybank Resource Centre social care officers support, said: “We are absolutely over the moon that the Glitter Ball trophy is coming to the centre.
“Everyone who danced was absolutely amazing and it was fantastic to see everybody who took part. The costumes were great and everyone had fun with all the other groups.”
