Four matches go ahead after horrendous weather

-

Only four junior games survived the weather to kick off as planned but only three were completed.

The Super League clash at Laing Park between Carnoustie Panmure and Kennoway Star Hearts was abandoned by match referee Stephen Gill after 30 minutes.

Somewhat surprisingly one of the games to survive was at Memorial Park where Thornton Hibs took on in-form Premier League South side Bathgate Thistle in the Fife and Lothian Cup.

The only goal of the game came in the 66th minute when leading scorer Garry Thomson headed home an Andy Adam corner to set up a fierce local derby against Glenrothes at Warout Stadium.

The whole of the second half was played in stinging hail and the worst conditions seen at Thornton for many a year.

Premier League North

Referee Greg Soutar had concerns about the conditions at Ogilvy Park prior to the game between Arbroath Vics and Kinnoull but decided to go ahead and an entertaining game ensued despite the conditions in Angus.

Arbroath had to play for 70 minutes with 10 men after Paul Taylor was ordered off for a bad challenge after 20 minutes but it was the home side that took the lead on 49 minutes through Kellon Lyons

The goal woke up the visitors and Mark Smith levelled things within a minute and four minutes later Liam Wooley made it 2-1 to the Perth side. Smith made sure of the win with a third goal for Kinnoull with 20 minutes remaining.

Premier League South

The only game to survive in the Premier League South was on the 3G pitch at the Fleet Grounds as Rosyth won 4-1 over Newburgh.

The home side took full advantage of having the wind behind them in the first half and Tam Hampson headed them in front from a corner on eight minutes.

Jason Keith looped a delicate header over the keeper to make it 2-0. Hampson scored his second on 29 minutes and Greg Page made it four before Newburgh managed to pull a goal back on the hour.

In the North Region juniors Montrose Roselea drew 0-0 with Colony Park at Links Park.
