Votes urged for sports awards
Sports fans are being reminded to get their skates on and cast their votes in the Angus Alive Sports Awards for 2018.
The scheme, run by AngusAlive, will celebrate the achievements of sporting individuals and teams across the county over the past year.
Athletes, players, coaches, friends and family are encouraged to submit forms for consideration by the independent selection panel.
Nominations are required in nine categories: Club Volunteer of the Year, Coach of the Year, Outstanding Commitment, School Sports Volunteer of the Year, Sports Personality of the Year, Sports Personality of the Year Award for People with a Disability, Young Sports Personality of the Year, Club of the Year and Team of the Year.
The awards ceremony will take place on Friday March 8 and the nominations close at 5pm on Monday January 7.
Each year the awards have continued to raise the profile of sporting champions – from athletes who compete at the highest level to people who promote and provide opportunities to participate for anyone in Angus.
Last year’s Sports Personality of the Year, Gemma Lumsdaine, was selected for the GB talent squad, training with the GB Paralympic Wheelchair Rugby squad. She went on to win silver in the Women’s Cup in Paris playing for a European Select team.
