Christmas lunch at town’s Café Project back for another helping

-

Christmas lunch at the Café Project in Arbroath is entering its sixth year and organisers have extended an open invitation for anyone to join them for a slap-up meal.

Spokeswoman Kerry Hastie said: “We will be providing a three-course meal and a bag of shopping to people who come along.

“I want to stress that this is not just for individuals, it’s for families too and it genuinely is for anyone.

“In past years we welcomed a broad range of people, including a group of Syrian refugees and a couple from Australia who had moved to the town but had no relatives here.

“Some people come along every year but we also welcome new faces too and it’s great to see people enjoying themselves in good company.”

Organisers have also expressed their gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the meal.

Kerry said: “The community really has got behind the project, and both individuals and businesses have been extremely generous with their time and donations.

“For example, every year Andrew Stirling has donated pre-prepared vegetables, which has been a huge help, but in reality there are just too many people to thank for making the meal such a special occasion.”

There is no need to book a place but if children are coming along it is advisable to call beforehand so the team can make sure there is a small gift for them.

The group are still keen to accept donations of food, gifts and money and if anyone would like to discuss making a donation, or ask for more information, they are invited to call Kerry on 07401 945511.
