Arbroath singer Neil well on song for live breakfast TV appearance

-

A singer from Arbroath is still on a high after performing a live festive spectacle for 700,000 viewers.

Neil Thompson led Musichoir live on ITV’s Good Morning Britain at Dumfries House, the stately home saved for the nation by the Prince of Wales in 2007, as part of a campaign to tackle loneliness and social isolation at Christmas.

Musichoir was set up in 2011 by Neil Thompson and Susie McMahon, a husband-and-wife team with a strong history in musical theatre.

From an initial membership of 23, more than 400 people have been part of Musichoir, which now operates in Glasgow and Ayrshire.

Neil said: “Musichoir is all about doing something that is fresh and fun. That has always been our strength. We want to give people a performing experience and singing experience, backed up by a huge amount of production.

“I think that’s what sets us apart.

“Appearing live on Good Morning Britain was a great opportunity for us and I was delighted with the choir’s performance.”

Shiona Johnston, integrated health and wellbeing co-ordinator for the Prince’s Foundation at Dumfries House, said: “The guests look forward to coming along to Dumfries House.

“None of them knew that His Royal Highness was due to attend so it was a lovely surprise for them.”
