Monjeni has what it takes to strike in Lingfield handicap

TIPS: Trip should be ideal for Williams’ five-year-old

- THE FERRET

MONJENI has been running well in defeat in his latest starts, and the time looks right for him to get his head in front in the Betway Stayers’ Handicap at Lingfield.

This two-mile trip should be ideal for the Ian Williams trained five-year-old, whose stamina has just been running out in the closing stages.

He ran creditably for a long way over two and a quarter miles, when he eventually finished third to Stars Over The Sea in the Cesarewitch Trial at Newmarket, and held every chance until the final half-furlong when fourth over an extended two miles at Newcastle.

This less-demanding course can see him prevail, and the handicapper has helped a little by dropping him 1lb for each of those two runs.

GLOBAL GODDESS was knocking on the door through the summer and autumn, and can strike on her return in the Ladbrokes Nursery Handicap.

Gay Kelleway’s filly took in Royal Ascot on her second start in June - when she finished 21st of 22 in the Queen Mary Stakes.

This is a world away, of course, and perhaps a belated chance for her to get off the mark - despite top-weight - at the eighth attempt.

DUTCH UNCLE takes a fairly marked drop in class on his second start for Olly Murphy, and that could work the oracle in the Betway Casino Apprentice Selling Stakes.

LORD BRYAN looks like he might have been readied for a what is a decent pot at Leicester in the shape of the Leicestershire Silver Fox Handicap Chase.

Peter Bowen’s seven-year-old did well in the early part of the year and had a spin round Aintree recently, his first for 202 days.

The class act on the card looks to be

AMOUR DE NUIT, who should take his record over fences to four wins from five starts in the Great Glen Novices’ Chase.

BALLASALLA remains a maiden but looks like getting it together over fences and is one to be with at Catterick, where he goes in the racingtv.com Novices’ Handicap Chase.
