Social events taking place across the city as the new year begins

CEILIDH

One of Dundee’s oldest maritime relics will host its annual New Year’s ceilidh on Wednesday evening.

The HMS Frigate Unicorn will hold the Guid New Year dance on board from 6 to 10pm.

The family event will feature a number of local performers, including the Tayside Young Fiddlers, Kirrie the Fit? and the Steven Carcary Scottish Dance Band.

CHOIR

Dundee’s first LGBT+ choir will meet next Wednesday and is actively looking for new members.

The group, MusicaliTa­y, features both experience­d and first-time singers and gets together at the Wighton Centre from 6.15pm.

SEWING

A social sewing group will hold its first meeting of the new year on Friday evening.

Sewcial Dundee hopes to help relax members in a fun, closeknit environmen­t in an activity they say is proven to reduce stress.

Machines, materials, tea and cake will be provided between 6.30 and 8.30pm at Sew Confident, Brook Street, Broughty Ferry.

ALCOHOL-FREE DISCO Recovery Dundee will hold its annual safe and sober party on Friday from 7pm.

Organised by the city’s recovery community, the event costs £10 and will take place at RRS Discovery.
