Scotland look to improve on record against Wales
Warren Gatland’s Wales can take a step closer to their first clean Six Nations sweep since 2012 with victory at Murrayfield today.
Wales will start as firm favourites against Gregor Townsend’s Scotland side.
They have beaten Scotland in 11 of the countries’ last 12 meetings, including four out of five at Murrayfield.
But Scotland can take heart from two years ago when they scored 20 unanswered second-half points to triumph 29-13. However they face a major task again state am unbeaten in 12 tests, which is a Welsh record that stretches back to February 2018.
Scotland kicked off the Guinness Six Nations with a straight-forward victory over Italy. But Townsend’s team played a part in their own down fall in the losses that followed as ireland and france were both handed wins.
New Scots skipper Stuart Mcinally insists his team are to come out swinging as they look to make up for the pain suffered in their last two games.
The Edinburgh hooker said: “We can’t win the championship but we can win tomorrow. We’re at home and we don’t go down at home without a fight.
“All we’re focused on is our group and going out there and playing at home in front off a sell-out BT Murrayfield.”
Mcinally will lead out Scotland after Townsend decided to bench regular skipper Greig Laidlaw and hand Ali Price his chance to impress at scrum-half ahead of this year’s world Cup.
