Haws ride their luck but run out convincing winners in end

-

Hill of Beath moved up to second in Conference A after a 4-1 home win over Leith Athletic.

But it wasn’t as easy as the score may suggest, as they went behind after 30 minutes

It took until the 60th minute before Haws levelled in slightly fortuitous fashion, a deflected Lyle Kellichan cross finding the back of the net.

Five minutes later Russell Grierson put the Fifers ahead, with Josh Morris 10 minutes from time and Joe Kirby right at the death the other scorers.

Oakley put up stout resistance before succumbing 2-1 away to Conference A Leaders Penicuik.

A Steve Norman volley put the Cuikie ahead after 33 minutes but that was cancelled out by a Tiwi Daramola strike four minutes later.

Wayne Mcintosh struck after the restart for Penicuik who stay five points clear at the top.

Conference B’s runaway leaders, Bonnyrigg Rose, proved too strong for third-placed Dundonald Bluebell at Moorside Park, running out 3-1 winners.

An own goal after 28 minutes gave Rose the lead, but Lewis Mckenzie levelled early in the second half. However, the visitors weren’t to be denied thanks to further goals from Dean Hoskins and Keith Lough.

Crossgates Primrose’s hops of a fifth-place finish in Conference B were enhanced by a 4-1 home win over Tranent. Scott Lawrie bagged a brace with Mark Mckenzie and Dale Allan also on target. Mark Mcgovern hit the visitors’ consolation counter.

Also in Conference B, Burntisland Shipyard posted only their third victory of the season with a 4-1 home win over Dalkeith. Goals from Reece Brown and Johnny Galloway put them two up inside 26 minutes.

It wasn’t looking so healthy when Dalkeith pulled one back and then Shippy’s Sandy Strang was sent off five minutes from the break. However, both sides were down to 10 men by the interval and counters from Scott Hynd and Samuel Glancy sealed victory.

There was no joy for St Andrews United away to second-top Linlithgow, as they went down 3-1. Owen Ronald fired Rose ahead on 11 minutes and Tommy Coyne doubled their advantage nine minutes later.

Louis Thom made it three before the break with trialist Adamdavidsonpullingoneback. Better tidings for Inverkeithing Hillend Swifts, whose 2-0 home defeat of Edinburgh United saw them leapfrog the visitors out of second bottom spot. Ryan O’connor scored both goals.
