Mcintyre expects change in fortunes

DUNDEE: Dark Blues boss encouraged by performance in Dens defeat by Hearts

Dundee boss Jim Mcintyre insists that if his team can reproduce the same levels of performance they showed in defeat against Hearts on Saturday, then the next win is just around the corner.

The Dark Blues lost out to a solitary goal from the Jam Tarts’ Sean Clare to suffer their third straight defeat.

However, Mcintyre saw enough in the display to believe there will soon be a change in fortunes as Dundee look to drag themselves clear of the relegation zone. The Dens boss said: “I am really disappointed as it is another game that I feel we should have picked up at least a point from.

“Goals give you that real surge of belief but we are showing plenty of spirit because we are conceding the first goal a lot.

“We are still keeping going in the 90th minute but by the same token we need to be picking up points against Hearts at home.”

Mcintyre added: “We had a brilliant result against them at Tynecastle but we want to be picking them up here as well.

“I thought there was enough in the performance to deserve at least a point.

“I can’t be disappointed with the effort the boys are giving me. I can bemoan a wee lack of quality and ruthlessness here and there but in terms of what I am seeing and what I am working with every day, they are giving me everything they’ve got.

“A win is only around the corner if we keep playing like that.”
