Looking for fresh ideas, new plants, good gardening advice? Your friends don’t share your passion for plants or your love for all things floral? Never fear writes Julianne Robertson, there’s a thriving gardening community on Instagram, where you can find an account for all types of gardens and growing – from allotments to grand estates – and a hashtag for every aspect of your horticultural hobby. Here are six of the best Scottish Instagram accounts to follow for your daily dose of #scottishgardens... Olivia’s account celebrates flowers, photography and the simple life. Her grid features minimalist-style floral arrangements and inspiration for unusual vases and containers.

Based in Troon, she has a passion for cut flowers and has recently started a newsletter filled with ideas, practical advice and encouragement for anyone who wants to grow their own blooms. A perfect account to remind you to slow down and appreciate the beauty of simple flowers and achievable arrangements. With 18 acres of beautiful plants and a butterfly house in the heart of historic St Andrews, this grid is chock-full of seasonal blooms from the rock garden, woodland, tropical house or herbaceous borders.

You can also get a glimpse of its Urban Farm and Community Garden, where the aim is to promote the health and wellbeing benefits gained from small scale intensive organic vegetable growing. Plants are listed with their Latin names for identification and the garden posts details of competitions and opening hours for visitors. Perthshire flower farmer Rosie frequently posts photos of what’s looking great in her acre of walled garden on the Errol Estate or what she’s sowing in her polytunnels, aided and often amused by her two lovely dogs!

She also adds videos to her Stories showing what jobs she’s doing, which seedlings are growing well or when she’s out and about delivering flowers to her customers. A really good insight into the life of a Scottish flower farmer!
