Force renews appeal over missing man
Grandfather on charity cycle ride last seen two years ago near Tyndrum
Police have issued a fresh appeal for information over the disappearance of a cyclist in the Highlands who went missing two years ago this weekend.
Former Polaris nuclear submariner Tony Parsons – now 65 years old – travelled to Fort William by train from his home in Tillicoultry on Friday September 29.
He travelled south by bicycle along the A82 and was last seen at 11.30pm that night outside the Bridge of Orchy Hotel. Mr Parsons, an ex-chief petty officer, then continued his journey south in the direction of Tyndrum. He has not been seen since and neither has his bicycle.
The grandfather had been treated for cancer in the past and was undertaking the 104-mile (167km) ride for a charity.
Extensive searches of the area – close to the West Highland Way – were made by coastguard and mountain rescue teams after his disappearance.
Police have said there had been nothing to suggest anything suspicious had happened to him.
Chief Inspector Drew Sinclair, Clackmannanshire area commander, said: “Our thoughts very much remain with Tony’s family, who have had to endure two years of not knowing where he is or what may have happened to him.
“We are determined to provide them with answers and we want to ensure people remain aware that he is missing in case they may have information which could help.”
Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting reference 559 of October 2 2017.
