Young facing dilemma ahead of Bairns clash

-

East Fife head to Falkirk for what looks to be one of the toughest tests of the season, with Methil manager Darren Young admitting that he has been torn over whether to sit-in or attack the Bairns.

Young said: “Playing Falkirk away is a big game for us and I have spent a long time working on our game plan.

“They have been strong at home all season and have a fantastic full-time squad, so we are going there as underdogs, so we need to have the right approach.”

“I have looked at going there with a strategy of containing them and trying to hit on the break.

“However, I am very mindful of going with a more open approach in the Betfred Cup in big games and doing well.

“When we took on Dundee United at Tannadice, and won, we played an attacking formation and we used the same approach when we beat Hearts on penalties, so I have a dilemma to solve.

“It will be solved in enough time before kick-off to ensure that we have the best chance of winning.”

The Fifers head to the Falkirk Stadium after a 2-2 comeback draw with Dumbarton, with Young saying: “I am pleased to be going there on the back of such a good reaction, however we have to recognise that it was a disappointing result.

“There were some big decisions that went against us and we had to handle that. We are looking to make up for dropping points at home.”

Kyle Bell, Chris Duggan and Kevin Smith remain out injured and they could be joined by Ryan Wallace.

Young added: “Ryan is a major doubt after picking up a knock, however should he miss out it makes the recent recruitment of Steven Boyd all the timelier.”
